Midi Player App Reviews

Very Nice! Needs BT Audio support

Love the application! Though it would be great if the app also had the following: BT Support for those of us that only use BT Headphones. Background play on OS 4 Please fix crashing on OS 4

When you fix the crashing, this will be a 5-star app

I emailed etch support about how to load soundfonts a week ago - got a reply - soundfont import no longer functions - but the reason is valid, lack of working RAM. I usually play full audio backing tracks via iTunes for professional performance. But I have stacks of old midi tunes I never bothered to convert, and every now and then I get a request for one. This app is perfect for that use - a little weak on file selection, but sounds great for what it is - an SMF player. The ability to mute the individual tracks lets me use un-edited files files that include the melody, and the mixer is also useful, though a bit clumsy to use (not a complaint, just a lot of data in a small space.) I have not yet tried my own Soundfonts, most of them are pretty big, but the included ones are fine for the moment. You are already aware of the numerous crashing issues, so I will only add - when this app is stable, it will be a 5-star winner. As it is, it frequently crashes, but I just reload and the next time it works - so far. Have not had it crash while in the middle of a song, usually just immediately after completing loading a new file. So I reload and go. For my purposes (squeezing the extra tip out of a maudlin bar drunk!) even with the warts, its just what I need. I dont sing, or I would definitely get your Karaoke player as well...

I supported you, how about some updates and fixes?

I bought 3 out of 4 of your products. I feel suckered since this stuff is rushed out with so many unfixed bugs.

Oh Wow Meow!!!!!!

Rarely have I ever written a review this overjoyed. I have had to relieve my puny 8 gig Ipod of my mp3 files. Too much furniture for the carpets. I have grown a midi library to over 800 songs and enjoy controlling the playback - adjust tempo, isolate instruments and so forth. Now I wish for file register allowing renaming song files. More playlists like 20? I see need to organize maybe 1200 songs.

Awful!!!! This is not an ap for professional use

Plagued with performance issues and its not worth the $$ if u need something to practice with there are other aps that will suit your needs for less. Saw this demod at NAMM.

Works Well.

Plays my midi files no problem and has lots of features. The tempo and key change control are really nice, very cool when gigging.

Excellent.

Great app for solo performers wanting to perform with backing tracks. Just mute the melody and youre good to go. Saw demonstrated at Namm 2011, the sound was very good with many professional musicians demonstrating. A few kinks but the great sound and free access to thousands of songs makes it worth it for sure.

bugs bugs bugs

nice idea but basic functionality contains bugs and crashes very often.. I have contacted the developer with no response... I have requested my money back with out any success

Finish song, brace 4 crash

A little awkward, but handy for the midi choral music studies. The one thing Ive grown to hate is EVERY time a song completes, the next selection crashes the app. Fix that bug and its 4 or 5 stars.

Horrible, needs major repairs.

The app crashes every time I upload a song into it, the volume control doesnt appear to have any effect, so I cant listen to anything without getting my eardrums blasted out, and sometimes it crashes for no apparent reason at all. If it got fixed up, it would be awesome though...

Too expensive

This app should be a lower price until the bugs are fixed, if they ever are. Developer has moved onto other apps and has not updated this one in over a year. Barely supports iOS 4.x, and has many small but irritating issues. 1) Cannot delete arbitrary files, including soundfonts that you soon realize dont work. Must delete and reinstall app to actually delete files that it does not recoginize in its file browser. 2) Must manually rename .kar files to .mid to play the midi track of the karaoke file. If you dont youll be wasting space (see issue 1) 3) Stability issues, crashes everytime you upload a file via the web interface. Does seem to extract the zip file before crashing though. 4) Random HTTP port is completely unnessicary 5) Supports "SyncDocs" for < 4.x firmwares, but uses generic "SyncDocsSample" name for itself. 6) Does not offer file management in iTunes like most apps that store files in this nature. With this all said, the app is still great, as I have no other way to play midis on my iPad, but the price is far too high for an abandoned piece of buggy code. Needs some lovin to update to 4.x APIs or at the very least address issues 1-3.

It is terrible

Cant upload the midi from the PC

Awesome!

I am so glad that I found this app, I needed some way to listen to my MIDI files on my IPad when away from my keyboard, and when I found this, it answered all my needs. I was also very pleased with receiving quick answers to some of my questions from the developer. Would love to have a HD version of this if one comes out. Thanks Garren!

Huh?..

Trying to get music from internet using HTTP method. Does not work. Period ! Cant use. What else is new ?.

no support, wont sync

support link is a blog that hasnt had an update in 11 months - very flaky app on an iPod touch; wont sync with either a mac or PC - too bad they quit working on it.

Absolutely horrible

Dont waste your money! The amount of bugs is ridiculous, unless it gets some serious updates, this app is worthless.

Unless you have developer skills you may be frustrated.

The average user who tries to follow the instructions for getting midis onto their iphone(the entire point of downloading this app in my view) will find this frustrating. Typing in ip address numbers and working thru compatibility and troubleshooting errors related to unuserfriendly applications will stop your basic dude wanting a midi file in his iphone. After way too much time and effort i got a few midis on my iphone but ill look to an easier program or user oriented update in the future to do more

Update is Awesomeā¯¢

I purchased this app in September 2011, and it didnt work...Since The update issued in December 2011 all issues are resolved and it works beautifully. I am looking forward to using this app to play backing tracks in my home studio for fun. The instrument sounds are really nice as well - better than my Roland JV 1080 ever was - and its easier to use...Great job, Great App, I highly recommend it.

Wow! What an improvement!

Redesigned for the live performance is correct. I make my own jams and now I can take THIS on stage with me. Im still trying to figure it out but so far so useable. It doesnt seem to work with my Alesis I/O dock but maybe I didnt figure how to make it work yet. Thanks, once I figure this out it will be mine main app. Midistudio 2.0 does not allow for multiple SMF drum tracks on channel 10 and makes no plans to do so. They told me so in a email response. Good Job MIDI 3.0! Jeffery

App is crashing on the iPod 4G

The app crashes only when attempting to play a midi file/song.. As title suggests, Im using the iPod 4th gen. w/ iOS 5.0.1 Not sure if the app was working before the app got updated.. Just tested it out when it got updated.
